Can anyone legally work on a gas boiler?
Only a Gas Safe registered engineer may work on a gas boiler by law in the UK. The engineer must hold current registration. Always ask to see the certificate before work begins.
What should I do if a pipe bursts?
Turn off the stopcock immediately to stop water flow. Open the lowest tap to drain the system. Locate the burst and stop it spreading water. Call a plumber to make the repair.
Why is my boiler showing an error code?
Error codes tell the engineer what part is faulty—ignition failure, pressure loss, thermistor fault or sensor error are common. The boiler will not fire until repaired. A Gas Safe engineer can diagnose and fix it.
How often should drains be cleaned?
Most domestic drains need no cleaning if used correctly. Hair, fat and wipes cause blockages. A professional can jet or rod drains if they slow. Regular use of drain unblocker is not needed for normal households.
What causes low water pressure?
Cause may be a fault in the mains supply, a stopcock partly closed, a faulty regulator, or a leak in the pipe. A plumber can test the pressure and trace the source.
